River Haven

River Haven

River Haven is a new beginning for homeless individuals who are ready to transition into our local community.

In 2005 Turning Point Foundation took a group of people living along the river bottom in tents and started them on the path to hope and the promise of turning their lives around. Our local community donated funds to enable Turning Point to purchase metal domes and offer services to assist with the tranisition from homelessness to hopefulness. In 2018, with generous community support, we were able to replace the worn domes with small houses, which are manufactured by Tuft-sheds and have a 30-year warranty.

Turning Point’s River Haven Program has case managers on the premises available to assist residents with securing a source of income, job training, medical attention, and drug, alcohol, and mental health services.

River Haven Updates and News

Tuff Sheds for River Haven

If you haven't been there, you have never seen anything like this! River Haven is a self-governing community of 23 formerly-homeless people. They have been living in cleverly-designed Geodesic domes that have surpassed their lifespan of five years.

We are entering a new chapter in the River Haven journey and are investing in small houses made by Tuff Sheds as a replacement for the domes. Tuff Sheds are like “Tiny Houses” and have a 30-year warranty.

We're Celebrating!

We had a huge turn out for our ribbon cutting on June 27, 2018. Thank you to all who donated tiny houses!
